New Era IT are virtualisation experts, having implemented over 100 virtualisation projects across schools, using Vmware ESX, Xen and Hyper V. No matter what size your school is, if you are still running physical servers then virtualisation is an option for you, so call us now for more information.
So What is Virtualistion?
Virtualisation allows a number of different “servers” (virtual machines) to run on the same physical server. To end-users the virtual machines act as though they are separate computers, each with its own memory, operating system, applications and storage. In reality they share the one physical computer’s hardware, such as memory, CPU and other resources.
Utilisation level of Servers raised by 80% or more.
Consolidating and running multiple virtual servers on one or multiple physical servers allows hardware to be used more efficiently. Any unused capacity on one virtual server is available for use by another which enables the raising of the utilisation levels of servers by 80% or higher. Virtualisation also makes it much easier to manage multi-server systems, along with using a lot less power and keeping the cost of future upgrades down.
How New Era IT Can Help
Virtualisation of servers is a significant driver for change in server management, but it is not necessarily the right solution for every situation. To assist schools with virtualisation considerations New Era IT offers:
- extensive educational experience in ICT infrastructure within NZ schools
- in-house R&D scrutinising virtualisation maturity and effective expenditure solutions
- full virtualisation solutions deployed into schools nationwide.
Immediate Benefits of Virtualisation
NEIT account managers and engineers can explain in detail the pros and cons of virtualisation for your school. A few immediate benefits of a customised virtualisation solution are:
- Capacity can be added or removed non-disruptively based on school growth or application demand.
- Solutions can be designed so that hardware failures can be automatically overcome with minimal disruption.
- Critical data can be protected with additional fail-safe backup and data redundancy solutions. (SAN + Eduvault online backup)
- IT service levels are enhanced as infrastructure is simplified and automated tasks for deployment improved significantly.
