Pathways for the Future

One of the hardest things any school, anywhere, has to do is plan for the future; and this has to be more meaningful and real than gazing in a crystal ball.
New Era IT is proud to represent the Pathways™ Programme in New Zealand as part of an international consortium charged with further developing the programme. Globally proven, it is a flexible, yet structured approach to strategic planning for schools. Over the last 12 months we have continued to refine and improve the Pathways Programme for the New Zealand environment. As a result we can introduce you to a Pathways™ Framework which is unique in that it combines the power of strategic futuring, and the rigour of systems engineering, with traditional strategy planning specifically for the education setting.
Pathways provides a framework and toolset for school improvement at all levels; from high level strategic planning to practice in the classroom. It is ideally suited to:
- Developing an ICT Strategy
- Developing your school’s strategy for the future
- Deciding how to implement the new curriculum
- Reviewing your School Charter
- Updating your Property Plan
- Planning a new programme or initiative
- Beginning a new principalship.
The New Zealand Pathways Programme is delivered via a series of ½ to 1 day workshop modules. Your New Era IT Pathways consultant will take you through a needs assessment to determine which modules are best for your situation and then customise the programme to meet your needs and budget.
Modules are initially facilitated but once you become familiar with the framework you will be able to lead the process yourself.

The core Pathway modules are:
- Review
- Foresight
- Insight
- Action
Other special focus modules include:
- Enabling Technologies
- Authentic Activities
- Engaged Learners
- Effective Teachers
- Learning Spaces
- Middle Schooling
All modules have been designed specifically for use by New Zealand schools and can be customised to meet the unique requirements of your school, its Board and teaching staff.
