Netbooks vs Notebooks

It is important to understand the distinction between Netbooks and Notebooks and the advantages of both.
Netbooks are wirelessly linked to networks and the Internet, are “Ultra Portable” because of their size (10.1” and 11.6” displays) and have strong but lightweight construction. Low power consumption running standard software and web applications means that 6 cell batteries can last up to 7 hours from a single charge. Netbooks have built in webcams and stereo speakers but not internal DVD drives.
Notebooks connect wirelessly or via hardwire to networks and the Internet and have larger “footprints” (typically 13” - 17” displays), are heavier because of construction, processor size, internal DVD drive and a wide variety of ports. Notebooks have the advantage of full size keyboards and powerful processors required to run and display high-level applications, but naturally this activity restricts battery charge life. Very fast WiFi access (802.11n) is a clear benefit but will also reduce battery life.
Both Netbooks and Notebooks have their distinct benefits and functionality but either way, schools can be flexible, conserve their operations grant AND improve learning outcomes with leased “Cow” solutions from New Era IT.
