Since we last reported on John’s travels, he has done a number of kilometres around the North Island with a quick visit to the South Island too. There has been some adventures along the way making his weeks never boring – including an asbestos scare, road closures and power cuts and car troubles. However, some of the highlights include:
Whangarei Girls High School
The first 2 hours were spent on big picture planning, aims and objectives and a strategic approach to school wide uptake. This was followed by a detailed session on using OneDrive, and then learning about sites and creating demo sites on Office 365.
St Paul’s Collegiate
This session focused on how to use Office 365 as it had now
been rolled out across the school and in particular for years 9 and 10 who are
using Office 365 on iPads.
Hillcrest High School
A voluntary session which was attended by nearly 40 teachers. Explored the wealth of resources on the Microsoft Education Network and then dived into a ‘hands on’ session with teachers working on their own devices. Once again teachers were surprised and impressed with the possibilities of OneNote.
Wanganui High School
Here John delivered two workshops on their teachers’ only day on Windows in the Mathematics Classroom and Windows in the Literacy Classroom. Teachers fully experience Windows 8 and after initial shock, coped well with the change and the session appeared to be well received.
An introduction to Office 365 for the whole staff. It was a very positive session with teachers indicating it was really useful. And were really interested in exploring Office 365 more and joining the Microsoft Educator Network.
Villa Maria College
This was a full day session where John was able to spend some time with the college to prepare them for the imminent deployment of Office 365, plus as the school had also just deployed Windows 8 and Office 2013 across all devices, John was able to provide some knowledge here as well.
This session was a full staff meeting to introduce them to Office 365. John demonstrated the basic components of OneDrive and to prepare them for how it could be used when the school embarks on a BYOD programme next year.
Hamilton Girls High School
In this ‘hands on’ workshop, the eLearning team looked at Blogs, Mail, Newsfeed, OneDrive as a drop box and for collaboration, and a demonstration on sites. There were some very positive attitudes following the session.
John is taking a much earned break over the school holidays, but he is back all rearing to go at the start of term 3. To book in your complimentary session please contact Gretchyn on email@example.com to be added to his schedule.
